When installing LD5 CAT system for the very first time:
1.INSTALATION-USB driver for PL2303 – v1.8.0
For WINDOWS XP ,WIN7 -the operating system
When you starting for a very first time, install the USB driver for PL2303 – v1.8.0.: Download here: use the link:

NOW!!! Follow the installation instructions!
Now PLUG IN USB cable in transceiver LD-5 and computer, for now do not turn ON the power
Once STARTED- go to My Computer properties :
Look in the Device Manager /Hardware/ which com ports is:
System properties / Hardware/ Device manager….
Each port is by default 1 (to you may be different eg 2 and 3 …)
This port is for CAT system /in future do not change it physically/ and any firmware UPDATE !
Go to ports /COM and LPT – on port settings use following:
Bits per second 9600,
Data bits 8,
Parity -none,
Stop bits 1,
Flow control None,
Scroll to Advanced and set COM port to 1 and push OK.
Please REMEMBER – computer USB port is WHERE USB cable IS plugged FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YOUR COMPUTER to connect Transceiver LD-5 , and please, always USE this USB port as a physical allocation!!!!
When this is done , the CAT system must operate properly, check it with anyone of the logger programs , i.e. N1MM par example.
All software programs: Fldigi, N1MM, HRD, MixW , WSJT , they have their own configuration window setup. We decided to use as a interfacing driver the one from Kenwood TS 2000, fast enough and no complications.
Please, be advised for the following:
IN DIGITAL MODES
VERY IMPORTANT – WITH ANY SOFTWARE CONFIGURED AND DEACTIVATED /not running on your computer/, CONNECT as follow:
1.THE USB CABLE , 2.POWER CORD AND ANTENNA AND THEN SWITCH THE RADIO ON!!!
SECOND – Check CAT SYSTEM operating properly, ACTIVATE/ means installed lets say FLdigi/ THE DIGI OR OTHER SOFTWARE PROGRAM and configure connection in accordance with setup instructions!!! LD-5 has nothing to do with config page on any DIGI mode software… good luck!
Be aware: some antivirus protection programs does not allowing proper connection, as well a Firewall levels. Most important is : When you make any mistake on setup or connection, in order to start again , you need to restart your computer.
Sorry to say guys , but IT IS NOT PLUG AND PLAY DEVICE!
