Can this be used without “tuning”? Thanks!

    John,
The Trail Friendly is out of the box at the very bottom of the bands.
If you operate mostly SSB it will need to be shortened quite a bit.
The instructions are in the manual available online here:

Instead of “cutting” the wire I recommend pulling it through the insulator and wrapping it tightly back around itself. That way you can retune for a different location or portion of the band later if you need to.

OK so do you have/recommend anything that a tuner is not needed? The EF 20 and or EF 40? Thanks!

    John,
By “tuning” do you mean using a tuner or shortening the wire by wrapping it around itself at the end insulator? Once the EF or EFT-10/20/40 is made resonate by folding the wire back on itself it can be used without a tuner.

    73 for now,

Adios. I’m not a wireman, welder, solderer, or knowledge of electronics.
