My new MTR5B worked great on 40 with rock solid QSOs, but the 9v battery I was using went down pretty fast. I am planning to carry the little rig through Europe on an upcoming trip, using it for SWL or for contacts when legal. Size is critical as is discretion, I don’t want to be carrying anything that screams out “ham radio equipment” but I would like a bit more battery.
Has anyone found a good 8 AA battery pack that I could get? It has to be small to fit into my rig in a shaving pouch setup. I plan to run the “trail friendly” antenna without a tuner and would welcome any experiences on that antenna in a no tuner configuration.
